Notice of Proposal to Approve the United States Air Force's application for a Minor Permit for the Clear Air Force Station

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) has made a preliminary decision to approve the United States Air Force’s (USAF’s) application for  Minor Permit AQ0318MSS06 for the Clear Air Force Station (CAFS).

Applicant:      USAF, P O Box 40013, Clear Air Force Base, Clear, AK 99704-0013

Location:       Latitude 64.29° North; Longitude 149.19° West

Activity:         USAF application is classified under 18 AAC 50.508(6) to revise a Title I permit and under 18 AAC 50.502(c)(3)(A)(iii) for increasing the operating hours for three standby generators.

Emissions:     Potential annual emissions at CAFS will not exceed 38 tons CO, 90 tons NOx, 5 tons PM, 4 tons VOCs, and 1 ton SO2.

ADEC Preliminary Review: Based on review of the application, ADEC drafted a preliminary permit decision for this project under AS 46.14 and 18 AAC 50.

Opportunity for Public Participation: Any interested person may present written statements relevant to the draft documents by the closing date. ADEC will consider all comments received and make any changes ADEC finds beneficial or necessary to assure compliance with 18 AAC 50 or State Law. ADEC will issue a final decision to issue or deny the permit after the close of the public comment period.
