Notice of Utility Tariff Filing
The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that Chugach Electric Association, Inc. (Chugach) filed TA432-8, seeking to extend the term of its Isolated Operating Agreement for Government-Owned Disaster Preparedness Generation Facilities (Agreement) with the Anchorage School District (ASD). The proposed extension will extend the Agreement for an additional one year period, from December 31, 2016, to December 31, 2017.
Under the terms of the Agreement, Chugach allows the ASD to use a limited section of Chugach’s distribution system (within the Service High School Complex) in emergency situations. The Agreement was originally executed in 2006 for a term of ten years, remaining in effect through December 31, 2016. Included in the Agreement is a clause allowing for extensions in ten year terms by agreement of both Chugach and ASD, providing that the ASD provides written notice to Chugach of its desire to extend the Agreement 120 days prior to the expiration date. However, Chugach notes that at this time it is proposing an extension of one year to provide Chugach and the ASD the opportunity to update the Agreement, which will be filed with the Commission at a later date.
