Notice of Utility Tariff Filing
The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that Golden Valley Electric Association, Inc. (GVEA) filed tariff revision TA291-13 seeking to clarify the manner by which a customer’s minimum term and Reservation Demand Charge will be reset once the Standby Contract Capacity has been exceeded.
GVEA provides Standby Service to cooperative members for a term not less than twelve months, setting the Standby Contract Capacity for each member under the terms of its tariff. A member who exceeds the Standby Contract Capacity effectively requires GVEA to purchase additional reserve capacity to stand ready to supply energy for that customer at all times. GVEA proposes adding language to provisions addressing Standby Contract Capacity stating that exceeding the Standby Contract Capacity will result in the minimum term being reset to the first month of the 12 month term. The Standby Contract Capacity will be reset to the actual maximum amount of capacity delivered to the customer on a going forward basis. GVEA also proposes that the costs incurred with the reset will be recovered through a corresponding change in the Reservation Demand Charge.
This notice does not contain all requested revisions and the Commission may approve a rate or classification that varies from those proposed.
