Notice of Utility Tariff Filing
The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (“Commission”) gives notice that Sprint Communications Company L.P. (“Sprint”), filed tariff advice filing designated as TA7-750, proposing to eliminate the income eligibility requirement for a deaf, hard-of-hearing, or speech impaired Telecommunications Relay Service (“TRS”) user to qualify for the equipment distribution program (“EDP”).
The EDP provides free text telephones (“TTY”) or Captioned Telephones (“CapTel”) to qualified TRS users. Sprint is proposing to eliminate a current provision that requires a TRS customer to demonstrate income eligibility based on the customer’s participation in a means-test social service program administered by the state or federal government to qualify for the EDP. Sprint is not proposing to revise the other qualifying criteria for EDP, which are the TRS customer is to provide a written verification certifying that the customer is deaf, hard-of-hearing, or speech-impaired; and to provide proof of residency in the State of Alaska.
