Notice of Utility Tariff Filing
The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that on June 30, 2016, Metropolitan Telecommunications of Alaska, Inc. d/b/a MetTel (MetTel), submitted tariff advice filing TA2-745, proposing to add a Network Access Fee (NAF) that will be assessed as a pass-through surcharge to its end user customers. MetTel resells local exchange services of another local exchange carrier (LEC) through an interconnection and resale agreement.
The NAF is an access charge rate element designed to allow LECs to recover a portion of the cost of their “local loop” (i.e., the wires and associated local network facilities that connect a telephone customer to the local telephone company’s central office switch). All local exchange carriers must charge the NAF to their end-users.
