Alaska Historical Commission to meet July 25 in Anchorage

(Anchorage, AK) – The Alaska Historical Commission will meet in Anchorage and via teleconference on Monday, July 25, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The meeting is open to the public and will be held in Suite 1270 of the Atwood Building, located at 550 West 7^th Ave.

The commission will discuss plans for the 150^th anniversary of the Alaska Treaty of Cession commemoration and review proposals for geographic names and for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.   A preliminary agenda is posted at www.dnr.state.ak.us/parks/oha/index.htm.

Any person or group wishing to address the commission on matters relating to history, archaeology or historic preservation is invited to participate in the public comment session starting at 9:30 a.m. To comment by phone, arrangements must be made in advance by calling 907-269-8714.
