Notice of Application for Renewal of an Oil Discharge Prevention and Contingency Plan, Kotzebue Electric Association, Inc.

An application for renewal of an Oil Discharge Prevention and Contingency Plan, under Alaska Statute 46.04.030 and in accordance with 18 AAC 75, has been received by the Department of Environmental Conservation.  The details are as follow:

Applicant: Kotzebue Electric Association Inc.

Proposed Activity and Location: The preparation of an Oil Discharge Prevention and Contingency Plan, supported by adequate resources, which demonstrates the applicant's ability to plan to contain, control and clean up oil discharges from Kotzebue Electric Association Inc.  The tank farm has a capacity of 2,150,000 gallons, and is located in Kotzebue, Alaska.  The petroleum product on site is ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD).

Potential Results: A potential risk exists of oil spills entering the lands or waters of the State as a result of this operation.

Activity identified as: State Contingency Plan Number 16-CP-3126.

The comment period opens May 27, 2016 and will extend for 30 days to June 26, 2016. Requests for additional information must be received by June 21, 2016. The comment period may be extended in accordance with 18 AAC 75.455. Copies of the application and plan are available for public review at the department's offices at the above-listed address and in Anchorage, Alaska.
