Notice of Utility Tariff Filing
The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that Homer Electric Association, Inc. (HEA), filed tariff revision TA386-32, seeking to establish a structured procedure for retiring inactive services. The procedure proposed with TA386-32 would permit HEA to retire service extensions, including the transformer and primary lines, which have been inactive for more than ten consecutive years without notice to the current property owner.
Under the proposal, service extensions which have been inactive for more than five but less than ten years could be retired upon written notice to the current property owner. For this latter category, HEA proposes that should the current property owner desire to retain a service extension subject to retirement they must begin taking service using the extension within thirty day of the effective date of the notice and must continue the service for more than twelve consecutive months. Otherwise, the service extension remains subject to retirement. Finally, HEA proposes that once a service extension has been retired, an application must be submitted for any new service extension to the same location.
