Notice of Utility Tariff Filing
The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that Middle Kuskokwim Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MKEC) filed a tariff revision designated as TA132-343 seeking approval of a 45 percent permanent increase effective December 1, 2015. For customers under the rate on Tariff Sheet No. 22, the monthly customer charge will increase from $15.00 to $21.75, and the energy rate per kWh will increase from $0.460 to $0.667. For customers under the Large Power rate on Tariff Sheet No. 22.1, the monthly customer charge will increase from $35.00 to $50.75, the demand charge will increase from $45.00 to $65.25 per KW at 80 percent ratchet, the energy rate per kWh for the first 1,500 kWh will increase from $0.300 to $0.435, and usage over 1500 kWh will increase from $0.200 to $0.290.
If the Commission suspends the tariff revision for further investigation, MKEC requests its proposed 45 percent increase be permitted to take effect on and interim and refundable basis pending approval of a permanent rate. MKEC indicates that the rate increase proposed in TA132-343 is the first phase of a proposed 90 percent increase over three years and the utility states it will submit additional requests as part of this phased process in the future.
