Notice of Utility Tariff Filings

Notice of Utility Tariff Filings

The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that Alaska Waste – Interior, LLC (AWI), Alaska Waste - Kenai, LLC (AWK), Alaska Waste Mat-Su, LLC (AWMS), and Waste Connections of Alaska, Inc. (WCA), have filed tariff revisions designated as TA85-667, TA68-714, TA57-731, and TA97-692, respectively. AWI, AWK, AWMS, and WCA (collectively Alaska Waste) propose revisions to the provisions governing billing and credit policies and termination of service by the utility. Specifically, Alaska Waste proposes the following changes:

  • A new provision allowing AWI, AWK, and WCA to render make-up bills within 6 months of service has been introduced as Rule 200.50.28.
  • A provision specifying that it is the customer’s the responsibility to verify the utility billing, and that charges are binding unless objected to within six months of billing, has been introduced as Rule 200.50.29 for AWI, AWK, and WCA.
  • A modification to the provision related to Termination of Service by the Utility for AWI, AWK, and WCA to add two additional grounds for termination: (1) failure on the part of the customer to observe the rules and regulations of the company; and (2) the use of profane or obscene language, reasonably expected to frighten, abuse, torment or harass utility personnel.
  • A new provision allowing AWI, AWK, and WCA to discontinue service if a customer fails to comply with any of the rules in its tariff, provided such failure is not remedied within ten calendar days of receiving written notice from the utility. In the event the utility discontinues service under the provisions of Rule 200.140, the customer may file a formal customer complaint in accordance with the provisions outlined in Section 200.80.
  • A new provision requiring Alaska Waste to mail notices of discontinuance of service not less than ten calendar days before the date scheduled for service to discontinue.
