Alaska Native Language Preservation and Advisory Council Meeting

ALASKA NATIVE LANGUAGE PRESERVATION and ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING

The Alaska Native Language Preservation and Advisory Council
will hold a meeting by teleconference on July 10th, 2015 from 10:00am to 11:30 am.

Background:
In April 2012, the Alaska Legislature passed Senate Bill 130 authorizing the formation of the Alaska Native Language Preservation and Advisory Council. In May, Governor Sean Parnell signed the bill into law.

The purpose of the Alaska Native Language Preservation and Advisory Council is to provide recommendations and advice to both the Governor and Legislature on programs, policies, and projects; and to network and advocate in support of the Council’s mission.

AS 44.33.520 (f) The department shall provide staff as needed to support the council, the staff must demonstrate competency in an Alaska Native language.
