Draft Alaska State Plan for Senior Services, FY 2016 – FY 2019 Available for Public Comment

The draft Alaska State Plan for Senior Services, FY 2016 – FY 2019 is posted to the Alaska Commission on Aging website at www.alaskaaging.org. A PDF version of the plan is attached to this announcement. We invite all Alaskans to view the draft plan and provide us with your feedback by Monday, June 29, 2015.

There are two documents attached. The document called “Core State Plan” includes the sections of the State Plan required by the U.S. Administration on Community Living such as the Executive Summary; the Vision Statement; Goals, Strategies, and Performance Measures; the Intrastate Funding Formula; among other required sections. Please prioritize the Core document in your comments. The other document, “Complete State Plan,” is the entire draft of the Alaska State Plan for Senior Services which includes current information about senior demographics, descriptions about senior programs, findings from senior needs assessment activities, and other topics.  

The State Plan for Senior Services is required by the U.S. Administration on Community Living/Administration on Aging for all states to be eligible to receive federal funds through the Older Americans Act (OAA). These funds, in combination with state funding, provide financial support for senior meals, transportation, elder protection, vocational training for seniors, information and referral, and other important services for Alaska seniors statewide.

Public Comment of the draft Alaska State Plan for Senior Services is scheduled on the dates, times, and places below. If you live in Anchorage, Fairbanks, MatSu, Homer or Juneau, please attend the comment session in your community, if possible. For residents of all other areas of the state and those who were unable to attend the public comment session in their community, please phone in for the statewide teleconference session on Wednesday, June 17 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
