Notice of Pipeline Application to Relinquish Certificate

The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA gives notice that Polar LNG, LLC (Polar) has filed an application to relinquish Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (Certificate) No. 744 for natural gas pipeline transmission service at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Polar is a privately held limited liability company, wholly owned by Pentex Alaska Natural Gas Company, LLC, and was created to develop a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant on the Alaska North Slope. The project for which the pipeline was required has been cancelled and the proposed pipeline was not constructed. Docket P-15-009 was opened to address this matter.

No motions for waiver or petitions for confidentiality were filed with the application. The Commission has not assessed the completeness of the application. The Commission may determine whether the application is complete by June 8, 2015.

AS 42.06.290(a) provides that a pipeline carrier may not abandon or permanently discontinue service unless, after notice and an opportunity for hearing, the Commission finds that continued service is not required by the public convenience and necessity.
