Notice of Utility Application

The REGULATORY COMMISSION of ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that on February 26, 2015, Haida Energy, Inc. (Haida Energy) filed an application for a new Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (Certificate). Haida Energy proposes to provide wholesale electric service to Alaska Power Company (APC) in the vicinity of Hydaburg, Alaska. Docket No. U-15-012 was opened to address this matter.

Haida Energy intends to construct a 5 megawatt hydroelectric facility at Reynolds Creek, near Hydaburg, Alaska, and sell the power from that facility to APC. APC provides retail electric service in the interconnected electric system on Prince of Wales Island, including the communities of Craig, Klawock, Thorne Bay, Kasaan, Hollis, and Hydaburg. Haida Energy also seeks Commission approval of the Power Sales Agreement between Haida Energy and APC and expedited consideration of its requests by June 1, 2015, or as soon thereafter as possible.

No motions for waivers or petitions for confidentiality were filed with this application. The Commission has not assessed the completeness of the application. The Commission may determine whether the application is complete by March 19, 2015.
