ALASKA NATIVE LANGUAGE PRESERVATION and ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING AND STRATEGIC PLANNING

The Alaska Native Language Preservation and Advisory Council
will hold a Strategic Planning session
on February 20 & 21 from 8 am to 4:30 pm

The Strategic Planning will be held at the Alaska Native Heritage Center, 8800 Heritage Drive Center, Anchorage, Alaska 99504.

The purpose of the meeting is to develop a strategic plan for the coming years of work to preserve, restore and revitalize Alaska Native languages.

Background:
In April 2012, the Alaska Legislature passed Senate Bill 130 authorizing the formation of the Alaska Native Language Preservation and Advisory Council. In May 2012, Governor Sean Parnell signed the bill into law.

The purpose of the Alaska Native Language Preservation and Advisory Council is to provide recommendations and advice to both the Governor and Legislature on programs, policies, and projects; and to network and advocate in support of the Council’s mission.
