Alaska Rainforest Expedition (TREX)

Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Southeast Regional Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: Alaska Rainforest Expedition (TREX)

PROJECT NAME: ADL 109046

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Curve Mountain, near Bostwick Lake on Gravina Island

LEGAL DESCRIPTION:

Section 33, 34, 28, Township 75 S, Range 90 E, CRM

Section 3, 4, Township 76 S, Range 90 E, CRM

REQUESTED ACTIVITY:  Develop approximately four-mile access trail to curve mountain to hike in the forest and sightsee as a daily, commercially guided activity during day light hours during the tourist season, May 1 - September. TREX will flag a route through a natural trail system. Development of the trail will be conducted using hand tools (chainsaw, hedge trimmer, shovel, wheelbarrow, pick).   The trail will not exceed 10 feet in width.   The trail will be developed to allow easy pedestrian access while minimizing environmental impact.  The trail will form a rough circle around Curve Mountain, not to exceed 1,000 feet of elevation. TREX conducts small group guided hikes of 20 clients or less.  No permanent developments will be placed on state land.
