Alaska Historical Commission meeting

The Alaska Historical Commission will meet in Anchorage, on Monday, February 25, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  The meeting, open to the public, will be at the Atwood Building, 550 West 7th Ave., Room 102.

The commission will review grant applications for projects from Certified Local Governments (CLGs), and will consider proposals to name a lake near Sitka, a lake in Lake Clark National Park & Preserve, two peaks near Seward, and to change the officially recognized name for the community of Chenega.  the commission will be given brief updates on historic preservation activities since its meeting in September 2018.

Any person or group wishing to address the Commission on the grant requests or geographic name proposals is invited to participate in the public comment session starting at 11:30 a.m.  To comment by phone, arrangements must be made in advance by calling 907.269-8714.
