Public Notice - Medical Waste Treatment Permits

In October 2017 the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) revised the regulations regarding waste treatment facilities to require that medical waste treatment facilities, not located within a hospital or other medical facility, operate under a solid waste treatment permit issued by ADEC.

ADEC has determined that each of the permit applications for operation of a medical waste treatment facility, submitted by the applicants noted below, is complete and proposes to issue the permit for the each of these facilities.

PROJECT
DESCRIPTION:

Riptide will operate a mobile medical waste incinerator within a box truck. They will collect and treat waste onsite for clients. An optional storage location will be available at the facility address.

Alaska Medical Waste is an existing facility that operates an autoclave sterilizer and stores waste at the facility.

Entech is an existing facility that operates an autoclave and a medical waste incinerator and stores waste at the facility.

OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC PARTICIPATION:
ADEC is seeking comment regarding the proposed permits only.  Notice is given that any person interested may present written comments relevant to the proposed permits to ADEC.  Written comments will be included in the record if received before 5:00 p.m. on October 18, 2018.
