KLAWOCK POWER GENERATION STATION

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) proposes to issue an Owner Requested Limit approval (ORL) AQ1513ORL01 to Alaska Power & Telephone Company for the Klawock Power Generation Station under Alaska Statute 46.14 and regulation 18 AAC 50.

Applicant:  Alaska Power & Telephone Company, PO Box 3222, Port Townsend, WA 98368

Location:  6698 Klawock – Hollis Highway, Klawock, AK 99925

Activity:  Diesel electric power generation.

Emissions:  The potential to emit at the stationary source will not exceed 40 tons per year (tpy) of NOx. This limit will also keep other regulated air pollutants below the minor permitting thresholds listed in 18 AAC 502(c)(1).

ADEC Preliminary Review: Based on review of the application, ADEC has made a preliminary decision to approve the ORL for the Klawock Power Generation Station.

Opportunity for Public Participation: Notice is also given that any interested person may present written statements relevant to the draft documents by the close of the public comment period. Written comments will be included in the record if received by close of the comment period. ADEC will consider all comments received and make any changes ADEC finds beneficial or necessary to assure compliance with 18 AAC 50 or State Law. Any person may request a public hearing and that hearing will be held if ADEC finds that good cause exists. ADEC will issue a final decision to issue or deny the permit after the close of the public comment period. ADEC complies with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
