Douglas Island Pink and Chum, Inc. (DIPAC)

 

Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Southeast Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: Douglas Island Pink and Chum, Inc. (DIPAC)

PROJECT NAME: LAS 27907

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Limestone Inlet, approximately 25 miles Southeast of Juneau

LEGAL DESCRIPTION: SW ¼ SE ¼, Sec. 21, T. 44 S., R. 70 E., CRM

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: DIPAC has submitted an application to the Division of Mining Land and Water (DMLW) for a 5-year Land Use Permit requesting authorization for seasonal (February 1 through June 30) placement of a commercial use salmon rearing net pen array, HDPE pontoon work barge, caretaker fishing boat, and mooring system on state owned tide and submerged lands within Limestone Inlet. The five net pens (46’ x 216’ total) with a work barge (30’ x 50’), and caretaker fishing boat would be secured with three anchors and four shore ties to rock bolts placed below the line of mean high water. 

PROPOSED DATES OF USE: Start: March 1, 2018         End: February 28, 2023

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: November 28, 2017

The public is invited to comment on the proposed activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at 400 Willoughby Avenue/PO Box 111020, Juneau, AK 99811-1020 on or before 5:00 p.m. on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue a permit with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
