Alaska Historical Commission meeting December 6, 2017

(Anchorage, AK) – The Alaska Historical Commission will meet via teleconference with a center in Anchorage on Wednesday, December 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  The meeting is open to the public and the teleconference center is at the Atwood Building, 550 West 7th Ave., Suite 102.   

The commission will address the tabled nomination of the Ch’u’itnu Historic District, Traditional Cultural Property (Tyonek vicinity) nomination and the new nomination of the Jay and Bella Hammond Homestead (Port Alsworth) for the National Register of Historic Places.  They also will consider six requests from eligible local governments for historic preservation projects, and review a proposal to name an unnamed geographic feature in the Eklutna vicinity Gold Star Peak.   They will have updates on historic preservation activities since their last meeting in July.  The preliminary agenda is posted at www.dnr.alaska.gov/parks/oha.

Any person or group wishing to address the commission on the National Register nominations, local government project proposals, or geographic names applications are invited to participate in the public comment session starting at 10:00 a.m.  To comment by phone, arrangements must be made in advance by calling 907-269-8714.
