Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Northern Regional Office has received an application for the following:
APPLICANT: Tom Fisher, dba Caribou Mountain Hunts (formerly Alaska Horseback Guides)
PROJECT NAME: LAS 26915
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION:
The site located in the central Brooks Range between the North Fork Chandalar River and Your Creek, just above a lake named Pankake Lake. USGS Map Chandalar (D-5) 63K. See attachment A.
LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Section 11, Township 26 North, Range 7 West, Fairbanks Meridian
REQUESTED ACTIVITY:
Tom Fisher, dba Caribou Mountain Hunts, submitted an application for a Land Use Permit for a seasonal guide base camp in the central Brooks Range. Mr. Fisher was previously dba Alaska Horseback Guides under the same permit number (LAS 26915). Mr. Fisher is requesting a 1-year authorization to conduct big game commercial services and to clean up his site. The site will consist of 3 bear proof storage barrels and a weather port type tent that will be removed at the end of the season. This site will be used during the months of August and September.
Mr. Fisher’s permit had expired in 2013. A field inspection will be conducted by DNR staff during the Fall of 2017. This authorization will expire on 12/31/2017.
PROPOSED DATES OF USE: One-season term: Fall 2017 (August and September)
DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: Wednesday July 5th by 5PM
The public is invited to comment on the proposed activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at 3700 Airport Way, Fairbanks, AK 99709 on or before 5:00 p.m. on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue a permit with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
