Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Northern Regional Office, Land Section has received an application for the following:
APPLICANT: US Army Corps of Engineers
PROJECT NAME: ADL 420554
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Oliktok Long Range Radar Site, North Slope.
LEGAL DESCRIPTION:
Umiat Meridian, Township 13 North, Range 9 East, Section 8, SW 1/4 SE 1/4;
Umiat Meridian, Township 13 North, Range 9 East, Section 17, NW 1/4 NE 1/4;
REQUESTED ACTIVITY: The US Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) has applied to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Mining, Land & Water (DMLW), Northern Region Lands Section (NRO Lands) for the authorization to construct and maintain a new road on Oliktok Point to access the Air Force’s Oliktok Long Range Radar Site. The Corps has submitted three proposed routes with the application. The section highlight is the preferred route. (See attachments) See legal descriptions above. The applicant has also requested to conduct survey work this summer due to time constraints of grant funding. Construction would happen next year.
It is recognized that some of the proposed routes will cross existing authorizations including pipelines. It has been requested that the Corps work directly with third party interests when final route is chosen.

The public is invited to comment on the proposed activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at 3700 Airport Way, Fairbanks, Alaska 99709 on or before 5:00 p.m. on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
