Bering Straits Native Corporation
Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Southcentral Region Land Office has received an application for the following:
APPLICANT: Bering Straits Native Corporation
PROJECT NAME: LAS 31581
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Located on the north-east side of Kodiak Island, on the west side of Woody Island, approximately 600 ft north-east of Icehouse Point and approximately 550 ft west of Mirror Lake.
LEGAL DESCRIPTION: NW ¼ SE ¼ NE ¼ Section 4, Township 28 South, Range 19 West, Seward Meridian
REQUESTED ACTIVITY: Applicant is requesting to establish one barge landing site on State-owned tidelands to facilitate the removal of the Federal Aviation Administration’s Woody Island Pier including bulkhead, decking, and treated pilings. Applicant is requesting off road travel to remove pier with the use of excavators on the shore and from the barge for the submerged portion of the pier.

Start: April 23, 2017
End: May 3, 2017

The public is invited to comment on the proposed activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at 550 West 7th Ave, Anchorage, AK 99501 on or before 5:00 p.m. on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue a permit with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
