CONSTRUCTIONINVITATION TO BIDS (ITB’s)

 

Sealed bids in single copy for furnishing all labor,materials, and equipment, and performing all work on Project No. 69548/BR-000S(735);Ketchikan Advance Water Street Trunk Relocation, described herein, will be receiveduntil 2:00 p.m. prevailing time November 20, 2014, at the ConstructionContracts Office, 1st Floor, 6860 Glacier Highway, Juneau, Alaska.

 

This Federal State funded project will consist of Theelectrical transmission line on Water Street will be relocated onto the ThirdAvenue bypass.  This will require the constructionof an electrical conduit between the Rainbird Trail parking lot on the ThirdAvenue bypass to an existing utility pole near the intersection of the ThirdAvenue Bypass and Scheonbar Road. The remaining electric lines on Water Street(12.47kV and 120/240) will be raised on the existing utility poles to minimizeconflict during the Water Street Bridge Replacement project.

 

The KPU Telecommunication’s (KPU Tele) systemalong Water Street will be adjusted to eliminate conflicts during the WaterStreet Bridge Replacement project. Two new 4” conduits will be installed fromRainbird Trail parking lot on Third Avenue Bypass to an existing cabinet nearthe intersection of the Third Avenue Bypass and Scheonbar Road. Four newconduits will be installed from Manhole 17 to 18. A new VDSL cabinet will beinstalled at Parnell and Water Street, and connected to an existing cable toprovide service during construction of the Bridge Replacement. New VDSL cardswill be installed into an existing cabinet at Schoenbar Road and will connectto existing cables to provide permanent service to the customers in BearValley. Once the customers are reconnected, the existing 3050 (1800, 1200 and50) underground copper pairs along Water Street will be removed.

 

The Engineer's Estimate is between $2,500,000 and $5,000,000.All work shall be completed by June 30, 2015. The DBE Goal for this project is 9.0%.

 

The Invitation to Bid, plans, specifications, bidderspackets and other bidding documents may now be obtained for bidding purposes atno charge by downloading from the following location: http://www.dot.state.ak.us/apps/contracts?ACTION=bidcal#40556.  If you download the document, even though there is no charge, you must register with the DOT&PF bysending an E-Mail to: vanda.randolph@alaska.gov or your bid may not be accepted.  You mustsend your Company Name, contact name, mailing address, phone and fax numbers,and whether you are registering as a General, Subcontractor, or Supplier.  You may notchange or alter the downloaded Bidding Forms in any way.  You must still submit these Bidding Forms bythe normal Sealed Bid Procedure using the issued DOT&PF forms given and bythe deadline.  Electronic bids will not be accepted.

 

Fax addenda and Bid Modification sheets will continue to befaxable to us as in the past.  We will alsocontinue our process to fax addenda to all those registered Planholders.  Electronic copies of these documents are alsoavailable at the website listed above.

Bidding Documents are available for inspection at the officeof the Regional Department of Transportation and Public Facilities offices in <st1:city w:st="on">Anchorage, <st1:city w:st="on">Fairbanks and <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Juneau.
