Alaska Historical Commission to meet Nov. 13-14 in Juneau
(Anchorage, AK) – The Alaska Historical Commission will meet Thursday and Friday, Nov. 13-14. The meeting will be at the historic Wickersham House located at 213 Seventh St. in downtown Juneau. The meeting is open to the public and will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Agenda items for the meeting include reviewing requests for funding from Alaska’s 13 eligible Certified Local Governments for historic preservation projects, considering eight proposed names for geographic features, reviewing a nomination for listing in the National Register of Historic Places, discussing the Alaska Historical Commission and Office of History and Archaeology current projects and budgets, and planning for commemorating the sesquicentennial of the 1867 Alaska purchase.
Any person or group wishing to address the members of the commission on matters relating to history, archaeology, or historic preservation is invited to participate in the public comment session at 2 p.m. on Thursday. Those wishing to comment by phone need to get the call-in information in advance from the Office of History and Archaeology at 907-269-8714.
