NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS ASSOCIATED WITH
DONLIN GOLD NATURAL GAS PIPELINE APPLICATION, ADL 231908

The Commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources received an application, dated April 9, 2014, from Donlin Gold, LLC for a pipeline right-of-way lease under Alaska Statute 38.35 (Right-of-Way Leasing Act) for the proposed Donlin Gold Natural Gas Pipeline Project.  The public notice of the application was published in accordance with AS 38.35.070 on May 14, 2014. 

The proposed Donlin Gold Natural Gas Pipeline Project would transport natural gas from the Beluga Natural Gas Pipeline system to the Donlin Gold mine. The 14-inch diameter pipeline would be buried for the majority of the pipeline route, which would originate north of the Beluga Power Plant and terminate at the Donlin Gold mine site, north of Crooked Creek Village. The proposed 315-mile-long pipeline will be located across a variety of lands. The approximate length that will be located on land owned by the State of Alaska is 207 miles.  Donlin Gold, LLC has requested a 150-foot-wide right-of-way for pipeline construction and a 50-foot-wide permanent right-of-way for operations.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The public was invited to comment on the application and the SPCO received several requests for public hearings.  In response to those requests, the SPCO will hold hearings at the following locations.

Bethel Cultural Center                        October 13, 2014                    6:30-8:30pm

McGrath Captain Snow Center          October 14, 2014                    7:00-9:00pm

Anchorage Loussac Library                October 15, 2014                    5:30-7:30pm

Tyonek Tribal Center                          October 16, 2014                    1:00-3:00pm

Skwentna Roadhouse                         January 21, 2015                     11:00am–1:00pm

All comments from the hearings must be submitted in writing to the SPCO before 5:00 p.m. on January 28, 2015.
