NOTICE OF UTILITY APPLICATION TO ACQUIRE CONTROLLING INTEREST

The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that on August 6, 2014, United Utilities, Inc. (UUI) and Yukon Telephone Company, Inc. (YTC) jointly filed an application to transfer controlling interest of YTC to UUI. YTC holds Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity No. 213, authorizing local exchange telephone service in Ruby, Tanana, and Whittier, Alaska. Docket U-14-100 was opened to address this matter.

The acquisition of controlling interest in YTC will be through a stock purchase agreement after which YTC will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of UUI. The acquisition will have no impact on YTC’s current rates, terms, and services.

The Commission has not assessed the completeness of the application. The Commission may determine whether the application is complete by August 27, 2014.
