Tariff Filing
The
REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that Waste
Connections of Alaska, Inc. d/b/a Alaska Waste (WCA), has filed a revenue
requirement, cost of service, and rate design study, designated as TA86-692, for
its residential service. With this filing, WCA is seeking a permanent rate
increase of 11.45%, to be allocated according to the included cost of service
and rate design study. WCA is not
seeking an interim rate increase.
In addition to the proposed
permanent rate increase, WCA proposes the following changes to its tariff:

To discontinue the rental fee for WCA-owned roll carts.

To make customer use of WCA-owned roll carts mandatory.

To divide its service area into two zones, representing either
urban (Zone 1) or rural (Zone 2) parts of the Municipality of Anchorage
-
To introduce a new fee for delivery and retrieval of roll
carts.
-
To introduce a new fee to recover the cost of the roll cart
if it cannot be retrieved from the customer upon discontinuation of service.

To introduce a new fee for drive-in/pack-out service (per
additional 30 feet for driveways in excess of 60 feet.
-
To introduce a new fee for extra large items that cannot be
collected with automated service during scheduled route times.
-
To introduce a disposal surcharge to flow through charges
related to disposal fee increases between rate cases.
-
To discontinue residential can service in the new Zone 1
(urban) of its service area.
