IFQ - 2014-0222-2552 - Fire Sprinkler Inspection, Testing & Repair Juneau

Addendum #2
Date addendum issued: May 6th, 2014.
  1. Recognize that the following questions have been asked regarding the Fire Sprinkler Inspection, Testing & Repair IFQ #2014-0222-2552. Please see the questions and the States responses below.
Dimond Courthouse:

1. Pipe main drain to exterior: I was informed exterior panels have asbestos in them is there a preferred
location for the drain?

Response: The exterior cement panels do contain asbestos. There is no preferred location for the inspectors drain. The problem with the existing floor drain is that it cannot handle the flow of water from the inspectors drain and tends to flood the floor.

2. There is a write up for improperly spaced heads in multiple areas of the building some of these areas none were found to be over spaced.

Response: This might be a case of some heads being too close to walls and other obstructions. Contractor will need to verify.

Archives Building:

3. There is no dry system in this building to internally inspect. The pressure switch is the alarm switch on the wet system. There is no mention of it in the report. Does it need to be replaced?

Response: The Archives Building has a wet system. There is a flow switch connected to the sprinkler line. This flow switch was tested in the last inspection and was included in the report under ELECTRIC BELL/HORN.

State Office Building

4. Add sprinklers where necessary for proper coverage and add sprinklers where necessary to eliminate obstructions. The building is only partially sprinkled and there is a partially installed system on p4. Are we only following the 2013 sprinkler inspection with the reference to adding heads in room R3?

Response: Yes. The repairs required for this solicitation are the ones listed in the 2013 inspection report.

All other terms and conditions shall remain the same.
