The Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development is pleased to announce the 2012 Direct Distribution Program for Commercial Salmon Trollers as part of the Southeast Alaska Chinook Salmon Fishery Mitigation Program. This program provides direct compensation to Southeast Alaska hand and power trollers to help mitigate economic impacts from the reduction in Chinook Salmon harvests under the revised Pacific Salmon Treaty. To be eligible for direct compensation, the permit holder must have caught and sold at least one Chinook salmon during the summer fishing season (July 1 – Sept 30) of 2012.
Pre-printed application packets were mailed to eligible permit holders at their official address of record. Completed application must be returned to the Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development by December 4, 2013.
Questions concerning the 2012 Direct Distribution Program can be directed to Lawrence Blood at (907) 465-4751 or CEDchinook@alaska.gov.
