ALASKA POLLUTANT DISCHARGE ELIMINATION SYSTEM (APDES)
PRELIMINARY DRAFT PERMIT
TO DISCHARGE TO WATERS OF THE UNITED STATES

ADEC has prepared an APDES preliminary draft permit for Eagle River Wastewater Treatment Facility. The Preliminary Draft Permit and associated documents are available to the applicant for a 10-day review. Following the close of the 10-day applicant review period, DEC will prepare a draft permit and fact sheet for a formal 30-day public review period. Public comments will be accepted during the formal 30-day review period. Proposed Project and Location:
The Municipality of Anchorage, Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility operates the Eagle River Wastewater Treatment Facility with a daily maximum discharge flow of 2.5 million gallons per day. The treated domestic wastewater from the facility is proposed to be discharged to Eagle River, approximately 1.5 miles west of the Glenn Highway. The draft permit proposes to authorize a mixing zone in Eagle River for total ammonia, fecal coliform bacteria, copper, lead, and Whole Effluent Toxicity.
