The Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Mining, Land, & Water, Land Sales & Contract Administration Section is pleased to present the brochure for the 2013 Alaska State Land Offering, Sealed-Bid Auction #472. From Southeast seashore to Interior riverside, this year’s assortment of 472 parcels includes a variety of lots on the road system or close to communities, as well as rural and remote parcels. The highlights of this offering are:
- reoffers returned to inventory after relinquishment or termination;
- 105 first-time offerings;
- the Crown Point house near Moose Pass; and
- nine parcels in Frederick Point North and Skyridge Drive Subdivisions that qualify for the Alaska Veteran's Preference Auction under AS 38.05.067 Preference For Veterans For Unoccupied Residential Land and 11 AAC 67.050 Veteran's Preference.
The majority of this offering represents reoffers returned to inventory after relinquishment or termination. These proven winners help round out the selection to provide opportunities for private ownership in areas that haven’t been available for purchase for up to two decades.
For the 105 new offerings, 22 parcels are in three recently platted subdivisions near Hoonah, Fairbanks, and Manley Hot Springs that include value-added improvements such as cleared right-of-ways, and in some cases, even constructed interior roads. Another 10 of the new parcels are highly sought after administratively-created tracts from our Remote Recreational Cabin Sites staking areas in Chleca Lakes, Ridgeview, Talachulitna West, and White Mountain. These unique parcels provide a rare opportunity for Alaska residents to recreate in low-density, wilderness areas that might not otherwise be available on the open market. The balance of the new offerings consists of parcels in recent developments near Coffman Cove, Hollis, Anchor Point, Wasilla, Talkeetna, Glennallen, Tok, Kenny Lake, and Livengood where we have already sold some parcels.
As a special offering this year, we have a rare, improved property on the road system. The Crown Point house near Moose Pass is a 1,200-square-foot, 3-bedroom, home located on an acre of land less than 15 miles south of the heavily-trafficked junction of the Seward and Sterling Highways. Land Sales staff will hold two open houses for prospective bidders to view the Crown Point property:
- Saturday, June 1, 2013, 10am - 2pm and
- Saturday, June 22, 2013, 10am - 2pm.
Finally, the nine parcels that qualify for the Alaska Veteran's Preference Auction are available first to qualifying Alaska Veterans that opt into the program. These Alaska Veterans have the choice of bidding on these parcels in the Alaska Veteran's Preference Auction where they will only compete against other qualified Alaska Veterans or the General Sealed-Bid Auction where they will compete against Alaska residents (including Veterans that do not opt to bid in the Alaska Veteran's Preference Auction). The following items apply only if the parcels are purchased in the Alaska Veteran's Preference Auction:
- proof of eligibility must be submitted with the bids;
- prove-up requirements apply; and
- the Alaska Veterans' Land Discount is not available.
If no qualifying Alaska Veteran's Preference Auction bids are received, the qualifying parcels will be available in the subsequent General Sealed-Bid Auction to eligible Alaska residents (including Veterans who choose not to participate in the Alaska Veteran's Preference Auction). If these parcels are purchased outside the Alaska Veteran's Preference Auction, the prove-up requirements do not attach, even if the purchasers are qualifying Alaska Veterans. Further, qualifying Alaska Veterans may apply to receive the 25% Alaska Veterans' Land Discount as a once-in-a-lifetime benefit for any parcel purchased outside the Alaska Veteran's Preference Auction.

to find out where to pick up a printed copy, or obtain additional, important information about participation deadlines; eligibility requirements; competitive, in-house financing; and programs for qualifying Alaska residents and Veterans.
After sufficiently inspecting parcels and reviewing all program requirements, eligible Alaska residents may submit sealed bids to DNR by mail, online, or in person
between 10AM March 20, 2013 and 5PM July 10, 2013.
Apparent high bids will be announced in a public ceremony beginning 10AM July 17, 2013. Attendance is not required and will not affect the outcome.
