As a long time Alaska resident I urge everyone to "Yes" on 2. Prohibition has a failed history in the United States and has given rise to organized crime cartels in the US, Mexico, and around the world. Washington and Colorado have proven that cannabis can be effectively regulated and taxed. It should act as a revenue source for the state and local communities rather than as drain on resource used to prosecuting a victimless crime. The War on Drugs is a failed policy that costs taxpayers billions in enforcement costs, has decreased our individual liberty by allowing the government to invade our private lives, is forcing transactions onto the black market rather than allowing for taxation and regulation, and is doing nothing to keep drugs out of the hands of youth - illegal drug dealers don't check ID but tax paying business owners do.
